    Denali National Park consists of large expanses of mountainous, treeless tundra overlooking open valleys of braided glacial rivers. It is one of the best places in Alaska to encounter the large mammals that define Alaskan wildlife including grizzly bears and wolves.

    Our backcountry planners know the park very well from year round personal recreation in Denali for over 20 years and from conducting glacier research in some of the park's most remote backcountry areas. The terrain varies widely in the park, and we can share with you our favorite less-visited sections of the park for backpacking as well as areas best suited for seeing specific species of wildlife.
